‘THE PLAYROOM’ WORK IN PROGRESS A PERFORMANCE BY DANIEL MARIBLANCA
PROJECT ‘IN FIRST PERSON’: This is a rehearsal, a work in progress.
Who are you?
My name is Daniel Mariblanca. I was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1981. I have been dancing professionally for more than 10 years across Europe. In 2016 I move to Bergen, Norway to work with Carte Blanche. The same year I established my company 71BODIES, simultaneously with my gender transition. At the moment this combination is great — I work like crazy but I love it. I love dance and performance. For me this is the best way to generate other perspectives and ways of communicating feelings and emotions that words can not do.
I was in shock for a few days. Then the dynamics changed, I started to enjoy the time, the FREE time. I had access to the studio, so I was able to concentrate in my own work. Time to listen to myself. I managed to remove the ‘noise’ and was capable to understand the value of things in a new perspective. Also, I got the chance to spend more quality time with my partner, time that we did not have in years. This has been a healing process.
Tell me your favorite track at the moment.
Now I listen a lot to instrumental trap. I really like Travis Scott, among others. Travis Scott & Rodeo Type Beat - Lies.
Recommend us something else.
I really like Philippe Jaroussky and Nathalie Stutzmann - Recording Handel duet "Son nata a lagrimar".
Also I recommend the book ‘Testo yonqui’ (2008) by Paul B. Preciado.
